A Super-Flash Crossover

Tonight we saw the much awaited Supergirl and Flash crossover event, which was awesome. I mean, unbelievably awesome! I was so excited for this, and it did not disappoint. We had a hero team up, we had a villain team up, we saw romantic tension resolved, and had a totally epic cliffhanger. This episode was awesome.

Warning: Spoilers ahead

Ok, so first off we see Siobhan getting checked out by the DEO for her sonic screech that she released at the end of the last episode. They determine that she is not super human nor alien, and she leaves. On her way out, however, she overhears Livewire (who is being held and questioned at the DEO) declaring her hate for Cat Grant and Supergirl. Cue Siobhan looking thoughtful and devious. Next Siobhan goes to her weird aunt and tells her about the sonic screech thing that happened, and then her aunt tells her that all the women in their family were cursed by a banshee generations ago to be unlikeable and start getting banshee powers when they are wronged by someone. So, Siobhan's powers were activated when Kara ratted her out to Cat. The only way to get rid of her powers is to kill the person who smote her.

Killing Kara is a little harder than she might think, as after she tries to kill her and blasts her out of a window, the Flash conveniently shows up and saves her. Also, Kara probably would've caught herself given a couple more seconds. So Siobhan decides that she needs help. Siobhan releases Livewire, and the two villains make plans for an epic evil team up in order to kill Kara, Cat, and Supergirl. Livewire also gives Siobhan a makeover so she could have a dramatic reveal as The Silver Banshee.

The best part of the episode, hands down, was Barry Allen. I mean, who doesn't love his dorkiness? Kara, in fact, seems to like him quite a bit. I don't blame her, he is an amazing person. James, however, doesn't like their connection quite so much. He seems to be realizing his feelings for her, something that Cat Grant had to point out to Kara, along with some awkward relationship advice on how to get a guy. The advice was to ignore the guy you want and pay attention to someone else, something Kara subconsciously does when Barry shows up. Winn, surprisingly, doesn't seem to mind Barry too much (although he has gained quite a bit of confidence lately) and instead delights in making fun of James' obvious jealousy.

But Barry didn't only bring tension to the Kara/James ship. He also brought several witty one liners that really brought the comedic bar up like ten levels. The lightness that he brings with him makes him shine on whatever show he crosses over to, he's just a likeable character. He may not have been the star or savior of the episode, but he definitely helped expand the current Supergirl universe. It was a bit annoying to have to hear the whole multiple worlds and how they can connect explanation again after hearing it like 500 times at the beginning of the Flash season 2, but I guess not everyone watching Supergirl knows what's been happening over on the CW.

Although, I do wonder what Barry was doing exactly. He seemed to have the tachyon machine that Harrison Wells Eobard Thawne used in season one to travel in time. He also seemed to be very surprised when he realized that he was on a different earth, suggesting that he wasn't attempting to jump worlds. Maybe Barry was trying to time travel to a certain point? Did we see a future version of Barry?

The big fight at the end was pretty epic, to be honest. I really liked how the people of National City decided to stick up for Supergirl. I also cheered for the awesome firefighters who blasted Livewire and Silver Banshee with their firehose. It truly was an epic battle.

I liked the moment when Cat revealed that she knew Barry was the Flash, I mean it is really obvious. It also raises the question of whether Cat knows that Kara is Supergirl? I know they had the episode where Martian Manhunter helped Kara appear to be in two places at once, but really? Cat's not an idiot. I think she knows, and just pretends not to because she feels motherly or something towards Kara.

Back to the Kara/James stuff briefly, that kiss man! I mean, I don't exactly ship them, only because I don't think they really fit together romantically, but I was still really happy for both of them. If they do get together, I think they'll break up fairly quickly, but it could be that they stay together happily. It was pretty sad when James just forgot what had happened as soon as they pulled apart.

Speaking about that, I looked up the Myriad that the Kryptonians activated, and turns out she's a mind controlling super hero, so they might have another alien lady helping them, or it may simply be a play on the mind control concept. Either way, I don't have anymore clues on that, so we'll have to wait for next Monday's episode.

One last thing: I have a theory that Winn will die at the end of the season, because it fits the pattern that Greg Berlanti has set in place in both the Flash and Arrow. The person on the wrong side of the love triangle (Tommy on Arrow and Eddie on the Flash) is killed trying to save the person they love, and it's really heartbreaking. This episode led me to believe that Siobhan will be the one to kill him, but that could be wrong.

Alright, I'll post again by the end of the week. I also should say that I don't own Supergirl, The Flash, or anything related to them.
